    1) What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a special chemical known as a cannabinoid. It is found exclusively in the cannabis family of plants. There are over 100 cannabinoids that also come from cannabis. We source our CBD from hemp.

    2) Will CBD get you high?

CBD is non-psychoactive, and does not get you high.

    3) THC versus CBD: What’s the difference?

THC is the cannabinoid which gets users high. That means its psychoactive, because it is able to change your state of consciousness. Being high can range from feeling euphoric all the way to anxious. THC produces a high by activating a receptor in the brain known as CB1.

CBD on the other hand is non-psychoactive, and some users claim it to be grounding and mood stabilising. CBD does not activate CB1 like THC does, but rather can block it. In fact, CBD can actually have the opposite effects to THC.

    4) Is CBD addictive?

Psychoactive substances tend to be addictive. CBD is non-psychoactive. In a 2017 report, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that: “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

    5) Is CBD legal?

CBD does not get you high, is non-addictive, and safe. So long as CBD extracts contain less than 0.2% THC and are extracted from hemp, they are completely legal. Click here for more info on what the World Health Organisation, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency), NICE, and the FSA have to say about CBD.

    6) Where does CBD come from: Hemp or Marijuana?

CBD can be found across all types of Cannabis Sativa plants. Cannabis can be split into two different types: Hemp & Marijuana

THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid that is illegal because it gets people high.

Hemp contains very low levels of THC, below 0.2% and good levels of CBD. Whereas marijuana contains over is illegal because it contains much higher levels of THC, and lower levels of CBD.

    7) How do you extract CBD?

Mighty Green products contain CBD that has been extracted by supercritical CO2 extraction. This is considered the gold standard method in the industry. Dried hemp leaves and flowers are placed into a cylinder, and Co2 is passed through at both an extremely low temperature and very high pressure to draw out all the goodness of the plant – CBD, and all the family.

You not only get all the good stuff in addition to CBD when you use Co2, its also a super clean way to extract because all Co2 residue is removed at the end.

What you get is a full spectrum extract, which contains other cannabinoids (not THC), omega – fatty acids, vitamins and other plant chemicals along with CBD. When these chemicals stick together they act as a team to provide a more powerful effect then they would alone. This is called the entourage effect.

    8) How do you take CBD?

There’s more than one way to enjoy CBD……..there’s tons!

    • Oil droplets
    • Capsules
    • Edibles
    • Beverages

Most people start out with using the oils, which can be dropped under the tongue. At Mighty Green this is our preferred route of taking CBD as we recommend

If you’re a foodie, or enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee, then you’re also covered.

You can also take CBD through your skin:

    • Massage oils
    • Skin balms

Using CBD topically can be good for nourishing skin. Only thing is, it will only take effect on the area you rub it into.

    9) How do you dose CBD?

Everyone’s different, so there’s no one or optimal dose. A good way of finding your sweet spot is to start low and gradually increase whilst paying attention to your responses.

In a nutshell, “start low and go slow”

A low dose could be anywhere from 2-6mg of CBD.

    10) Does CBD have any side effects?

Side effects are uncommon, but can occur sometimes. Whether you see side effects depends on how CBD is taken, how long its taken for, and the way its taken.

A recent survey found that in up to 18% of users, these side effects occurred:

    • Dry Mouth
    • Sleepiness
    • Hunger

    11) Will CBD show up on a drugs test?

Well, that depends on the kind of extract you’re using. Many full spectrum CBD extracts still contain very small amounts of THC (<0.2%). Unfortunately, even though THC is below the legal limit, it can still appear positive on drug tests sometimes.

Some extracts can have the THC completely removed, so that you can enjoy the experience of CBD without the risk of getting falsely flagged on a drugs test – phew. These are called broad spectrum extracts, and are used by professionals and athletes wanting to stay clean.

    12) How do you know if CBD is working?

Naturally the doses, way you use and time you use CBD for will affect how it works for you. Make or download a tracking sheet for yourself so that you can make a note of how things are changing.

Write down the things you want to see improve from using CBD, and make a note everyday how you feel in those areas. For example, if you’re using CBD for sleep, wrote a score down from 1-10 and see how that score changes over time. You can adjust your dose, when you take it and how you take it.

Everyone is different, so it may take some time for you to feel effects or you may start feeling it tomorrow. Sometimes CBD can take up to 2 weeks to have any noticeable effect, depending on how dormant your Endocannabinoid system is.

    13) Is CBD Oil and Hemp Oil the same?

The main difference between CBD oil and hemp oil is that they both come from different parts of the hemp plant. Although they come from different parts of the plant, they both have unique health giving properties.

CBD oil comes from the leaves and flowers of hemp, whereas hemp oil comes from the seeds of hemp.

CBD oil contains the famous chemicals known as cannabinoids, of which CBD is one. Hemp seed oil contains a lot of beneficial nutrients, but does not contain any cannabinoids, and wont have the same sort of benefits.

    14) Does CBD interact with any other medications?

Always consult your GP as your first go to, particularly when considering medications. CBD may affect the way other medications are processed by the liver, and their effectiveness.

    15) Can you cook with CBD?

You betcha! CBD is a fat friendly substance, which means you can infuse it into your favourite cooking oils and fats. Depending on whether you like the taste, it can also bring a really nice earthy, nutty taste.
